Basic Fixes:
- Check the remote batteries: Fire TV Stick relies on batteries to work properly. So, if the remote batteries run low, the volume buttons may not work properly. To ensure this is not the case, replace the remote batteries and try again.
- Remove interference: If there is physical interference between your Fire TV Stick remote and the TV, you may face issues with the volume buttons. Remove any physical objects and try again. You can also check your Fire TV Stick remote cover to ensure it’s not blocking the remote’s IR receiver.
- Restart the Fire TV Stick: Rebooting your Fire TV Stick can help fix temporary glitches with your device and remote. Use the Settings menu to restart your Fire TV Stick device and check again.
Fix 1: Use Fire TV Mobile App
Amazon offers an excellent mobile app on iOS and Android to help control your Fire TV Stick. You can use this to control the volume of your Fire TV Stick device. You might also use your TV remote to do the same. Check out our article to learn about using your Fire TV Stick without a remote.
Fix 2: Check Fire TV Mobile Remote Status
If you still have trouble changing the volume on your Fire TV Stick, you can check the status of the Fire TV Stick remote. If it’s not working as expected, you might need to change the batteries again. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Open Fire TV Stick > go to Settings. Here, select Controllers & Bluetooth Devices.

Step 2: Select Amazon Fire TV Remotes.

Step 3: From the right-side panel, check the battery status.

If there’s an issue, ensure the batteries are seated properly in the designated slot. You can also use new batteries and check again.

Fix 3: Unpair and Repair Remote
Issues from the previous pairing can cause certain remote functions, like the volume buttons, to not work properly. When this happens, you can unpair and pair the remote back with your Fire TV Stick device. Follow the below steps to do it.
Step 1: Press the Left button, Menu button, and Back button simultaneously until the blue light blinks on the remote.

Step 2: Wait a while and press the Home button on your remote to pair it again.

Release the button once you see the pairing prompt on the screen, and try using the remote again. If the issue persists, there might be an issue with the remote. If so, consider getting a new Fire TV Stick remote.

I have tried everything you recommended and I still don’t have volume.
Have 3 TVs, 1,Samsung 2, TCL.
3, Toshiba. Volume control on the remotes from 2 x 4k and 1x 4k max do not work the TV volume. All remotes work the sound bars. I have a 4th stick older basic model, when I connect the remotes to it they all work the TV . Put them back to the sticks they belong to and no volume control.??
