Every time I think I oppose it due to the disparity in the sentence from one defendant to another, up pops a crime that screams need of a death penalty. The most recent case in Fla., father and son abducted neighbor's kid and sexually assaulted, killed, then shoved him in a hefty bag and disposed of the boy like trash. Both these scumbags need the electric chair to be dusted off, the needle is too merciful. Even the bitch(wife/mother) who watched and did nothing deserves to go down with them. Made a plea deal to escape that possibility.

At the risk of recycling a chiché, two wrongs do not, and never will, make a right. You are basing your support of the death penalty on your personal sense of revulsion at the nature of the crimes, but it is a mistake to let your emotional response determine the necessity of the death penalty. Such decisions must be made in a logical fashion from a logical basis.

Murdering two more people would not make anything right.

If you take the life of a person in a cold-blooded, pre-meditated way, then you should be forced to forfeit your own life as apt and full punishment for the most heinous of crimes.

What gives me the right ? What makes me not a hypocrite ? My victims are grown people that rape and murder, creating years of pain and suffering for their victims and their families that could last decades, if they ever recover. The ones they choose, are not guilty of doing this. That gives me the right.

It's no different at all. We can't read the crap the president and his senators and congressmen pass before they pass it. If we don't like what they do, we have to wait years before we can try to get them booted out of office, and then who do we get ? Another jerkoff who continues with the last jerkoff's agenda.

On every viewpoint, there are those who will argue against the norm. Research those people and the information they are sharing. Read their books and their papers. There is a huge amount of evidence available for every conceivable stance on every conceivable viewpoint.

Don't try and tell me that you do not have access to alternative data, theories, and do not have the information to make an informed decision that is not based on what political parties might try and tell you. That's patently and obviously absurd.

It has nothing to do with morals. It's instinct. When one percieves a threat to their own species, a threat to themselves, or a threat to their own young ones, they will try to take the life of that threat. People who get off choking little kids, are a threat to my species, my young ones. I will kill that threat, or die trying.

I'm all for it. I believe that if someone does a crime, severe enough to warrant the death penalty in the first place, that they should be put to death. Also I'm a bit of a utilitarian thinker, so that being said the death penalty is also a way of keeping the population of already overcrowded prisons from becoming more crowded. At least that sounds like its a possible idea, I mean some people spend their entire lives in prison on death row and either die in prison anyway or never get executed on time or at all.

This is where their ethical nihilism comes into play. They do not distinguish between good and bad. They don't see killing a rapist/murderer as any different than raping and murdering.

Couldn't find the information I wanted, but this will do. More than 100 people placed on death row and later freed by pardon, acquitted or their cases were dismissed. The mean time that these people were on death row were ten years. Ten years in jail.

Throwing the innocent argument away, what kind of punishment is executing anyway? Essentially capital punishment is, "If you kill someone, which is a crime, we will kill you back."

Seems a little contradictory of what you are trying to accomplish.
