This is not the first time Kamran Akmal has discussed his bond with Gautam Gambhir. Nearly two years ago, he had recalled the scuffle against Indian players in the 2010 Asia Cup. Akmal claimed that things had gotten heated up with Gambhir due to some misunderstandings on the pitch.
“Things heated up a bit with Gautam Gambhir during the 2010 Asia Cup but it was all due to misunderstandings. He is a very good friend. We have played a lot of ‘A’ cricket together," he told Legends League Cricket as per multiple outlets.
Speaking further in the recent Cricblog interview, Kamran Akmal also discussed the successes of India’s coaches in the last few years. He emphasized how India knew how to use their resources well. “We all can see how good Indian cricket has now become. We need to learn from them. They’re continuously rising and doing better. Like see, VVS Laxman is doing good at the junior level for India and then Rahul Dravid was doing good before he left and now they have Gautam Gambhir," he said.
Gautam Gambhir has now taken up a managerial role, guiding India to a dominant 2-0 Test series victory against Bangladesh at home. He will next be looking to help the Men in Blue win their three-match T20I series against their neighbours. Following the series against Bangladesh, India will be locking horns with New Zealand in three Tests at home.
