Hoërskool Nelspruit (NHS) kan met trots en groot dankbaarheid aankondig dat hy as die beste skool in Mpumalanga aangewys is, met ’n 100% matriekslaagsyfer en ’n totaal van 366 onderskeidings! Gemiddelde prestasies en toppresteerders:

NHS behaal weer eens ’n 100% slaagsyfer, terwyl Mpumalanga se gemiddeld 84,99% was. ’n Merkwaardige 89,96% van ons leerders (242 uit 269) het universiteitsvrystelling gekry, en 9,29% (25 leerders) is vir diplomas toegelaat

Collectively the group earned a total of 119 distinctions in 2024. It was a rainy day on January 13 when the learners received their results. And, as is the case for rain on a wedding day, the rain on the day of the matrics’ result announcement was undoubtedly a positive sign of good fortune for the learners. Learners 83 Pass Rate 100% Curro Nelspruit is proud to announce the exceptional achievements of the Matric Class of 2024 in the IEB Exams.

This year, within Curro Nelspruit’s top 19 candidates who achieved an average of 75% and higher, eight students excelled with an A aggregate of 80% and above.

At the pinnacle of these achievements is Carla Louw, the dux learner, who earned an impressive average of 90%, including seven distinctions. Carla also received an IEB commendable achievement, as she was in the top 5% in the country in five subjects.

She achieved above 80% in English.

Dit het ’n merkwaardige jaar vir ons gr. 12-leerders van 2024 geword, met die uitslae wat ’n uitsonderlike vlak van prestasie, deursettingsvermoë en toewyding weerspieël. Hoërskool Bergvlam spog met ’n 98,3 % slaagsyfer, en 71% van ons gr. 12’s het vrystelling tot universiteit. Ailton Novele is tydens die streek se prysuitdeling as die toppresteerder vir rekenaartoepassingtegnologie aangewys, met ’n gemiddeld van 93%, en spog ook met ses onderskeidings.

Hierdie jaar het ons leerders ’n onwrikbare toewyding en passie getoon, en dit is duidelik in die goeie resultate wat hulle behaal het. Van uitsonderlike akademiese prestasies tot merkwaardige verbeterings in sleutelareas, het ons gr. 12-klas van 2024 ’n nuwe maatstaf vir uitmuntendheid vir die graadtwaalfs van 2025 gestel.

We are delighted to inform you that the Class of 2024 achieved a 100% pass rate and a 98.5% Bachelor’s Degree pass. Sixty-seven scholars wrote the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination in 2024 and achieved 99 subject distinctions in total.

Congratulations to the Class of 2024 on their outstanding achievements in the final Grade 12 IEB exams. Our Dux scholar of 2024; Anna Phillips (2024 head girl), achieved seven distinctions for all her seven subjects written. In addition, Anna had the distinction of being awarded the IEB’s Outstanding Achievement for achieving within the top 5% in six or more subjects and achieving a rating level of seven in Life Orientation. Unam Sefani (2024 head boy) also achieved seven distinctions for his seven subjects written. Penryn College placed students in the top 1% of candidates for the subjects of: Life Orientation and Siswati First Additional Language.

The IEB also offered Further Study (FS) examinations, previously known as Advanced Programmes, which now form part of the IEB’s International Senior Certificate (ISC) qualification. Three of our scholars achieved outstanding results in Further Studies: Mathematics. Anna Phillips achieved an A (92%) in Calculus and Algebra and a B (78%) in Finance.

Siyanda Mahlahlela achieved five distinctions for his IEB NSC exams and an A (84%) in Calculus and Algebra. Bonginkosi Thwala achieved three distinctions for his IEB NSC exams and an A (92%) in Calculus and Algebra.

Rob Ferreira High School’s Class of 2024 made the school proud, improving on the matric exam results of the year before. Obtaining a pass rate of 98.7%, the 2024 group of matrics obtained a bachelor’s pass rate of 70%, with a further 24% earning a diploma pass.

This means 94% of the Rob Ferreira Class of 2024 can go off to study at institutions of higher education.

“As you embark on your respective journeys, it is essential to recognise the pressure under which you have performed. You chose to manage this pressure in a way that will now determine your future,” said Rob Ferreira’s deputy principal and head of academics, Santi Roux.

“The 2024 academic efforts were directed towards your personal growth and aspirations, rather than merely seeking to avoid trouble or fulfilling the expectations of others.”

The school’s top learners, Callum Crawford and Odette Camara, obtained five distinctions each. The matric group received a total of 76 distinctions.

No fewer than 15 subjects boasted a pass rate higher than the year before, and a total of 18 subjects had a pass rate of 100%.

Nelspruit Private College’s top learner is Melissa Bandile Mathebula. Melissa started her secondary school at Nelspruit Private College in 2019.

She has always occupied a leadership position in her early years at school. In the 2024 Metropolitan Group of Schools Prize Awards, Melissa emerged the best learner and brought home two dux awards (floating trophies) and won a series of academic awards, which included certificates, medals and trophies.

Finally, in the NSC 2024 exams, she was the top achiever with six distinctions, two level Bs and one level C.

Throughout her school life at Nelspruit Private College, Melissa was a measuring yardstick against whom the characters of other learners were measured.

Metropolitan International College, the flagship institution of the Metropolitan Group of Schools, has once again proven its commitment to excellence in education.

Hoërskool Lydenburg (LHS) has once again achieved a 100% matric pass rate.

The school managed to keep its winning streak of success following 2023’s same result. The matric Class of 2024 managed to match the standard set by the 2023 class with several outstanding achievements accompanying the results.

The matrics obtained no fewer than 127 distinctions. These include four learners with seven distinctions, one learner with six distinctions, two with five distinctions, three with four distinctions, seven with three distinctions, 13 with two distinctions and 24 obtaining one distinction each.

Other results include 201 B and 291 C symbols achieved by learners. A massive 74% of matrics qualified for bachelor’s studies and 21% for diplomas.

The top 10 learners for this year were Christi van Wyk (93% aggregate), Jana Labuscagne (88%), Vusimuzi Manzini (88), Fadmah Ali (86), Naome Mashishi (83), Motheo Mafokwana, Ameera Osman, Moshiane Mariri, Megan Marx and Tshilidzi Munyai.

Christi, the dux learner and head girl of 2024, was also named one of the top 10 matriculants in Mpumalanga Province.

The school said this incredible milestone is a reflection of learners’ perseverance, dedication, and the support of those who walked this journey with them.

The Class of 2024 now step into a new season of life and were wished well for their future endeavours.

Calvin College’s Matric Class of 2024 obtained a 100% pass rate during last year’s matric exam.

The school, a pre-eminent private one in Burgersfort that caters for prep and high school learners, not only achieved this exceptional performance, but  87% of its matrics were awarded a bachelor’s qualification pass rate and 12% a diploma pass.

This means 99% of all the learners at Calvin College are approved for further tertiary studies at either a university or post-matric college.

Not only did the senior Class of 2024 deliver unparalleled results, but younger prep school learners excelled during an awards ceremony in which the diligent ones were awarded certificates and trophies in various areas to acknowledge their commitment and special talents.

Established in 1998, Calvin College has stood the test of time. This college has shown time and again why it can be considered one of the premier teaching institutions in the region.

The college does not only focus on high standard education, but learners are unsurpassed in the areas of sport and culture. Athletes from this institution progressed to participate at the circuit, district and even provincial level.

True to its fundamental belief in achieving grand accomplishments, one of the stand-out moments was undoubtedly when Tukiso Makola passed a rigorous selection process by Mamelodi Sundowns FC and was chosen to join its soccer academy
in 2025.

The school also has a passion for encouraging cultural talents, as seen when it held its first arts festival. More than 500 participants excelled in poetry, dance, music and visual art.

Calvin College also believes in giving back to the community. During last year’s Nelson Mandela Day, learners launched and spear-headed a clean-up project in the area surrounding the school. By donating food parcels, clothing and several other essential products to a special needs school in Alverton, this institution is intent on developing the social conscience of learners.

The school believes being a Calvinite means being exposed to various opportunities, such as the matric farewell, the interhouses, and Valentine’s Day and Spring Day celebrations.
